Quality Statement
Belmont Wine Exchange states that wine is in excellent condition, or the condition that is stated in its offer, at the time of delivery if it is shipped by the method recommended by Belmont Wine Exchange, and is accepted on the first delivery attempt. All bottles are hand inspected for condition before receipt into our warehouse. If you receive a bottle of wine for which the condition is not excellent, or does not match the description at time of purchase, please notify us at sales@belmontwine.com within 15 days. Belmont Wine Exchange cannot accept return of any bottle of wine that has been opened or altered, nor any bottle of wine that has been out of its possession for more than 6 months. Excellent condition refers to the contents within the bottle, and is based on the age of the wine. Cosmetic imperfections, such as nicks or marks on the label or capsule, do not count against excellent condition. All bottles are hand inspected for excellent condition before receipt into our warehouse. We at Belmont Wine Exchange endeavor to describe each bottle as accurately as possible to inform the customer of any possible factors that might affect its drinkability. However, please note that certain spoilage mechanisms are undetectable, as wine is a living product. Photos of wines you are considering for purchase are available upon request. We work hard to provide excellent service in all aspects of our operation. If you believe an error has occurred with your purchase, please contact us as soon as posslble at sales@belmontwine.com and we will attempt to rectify it or reach an amicable arrangement. Our maximum liability under any circumstances is limited to the purchase price of the wine.
Storage
- All of our wines are stored at our state-of-the-art
wine storage facility in Hayward, California. We are diligent in seeking out the provenance
of older wines and will provide a description of the physical appearance of any
bottle that is not normal for its age.
However, Belmont Wine Exchange is interested in treating its customers
fairly. Any issues that may arise with
respect to the condition of wines sold by us will be dealt with on an
individual basis.
Age
Requirement - We sell only to individuals who can form legally
binding contracts under applicable law. Without limiting the foregoing, we will
not sell to minors. By placing an order
with Belmont Wine Exchange, whether on our website, over the phone or in
person, you certify under penalty of perjury that you and the recipient are at

Exchange may refuse our services (such as, but not limited to listings, chat,

Belmont Wine Exchange, LLCIf you decide to sell your wine on consignment, Belmont Wine Exchange can provide you with the best service at the lowest rate.
Low Consignment Rate - BWE charges 18% commission for consignments. For example, if a bottle of wine sells for $100, the Consignor will receive $82. Any applicable sales tax and freight are paid by the buyer.
Shipment Assistance - Consignor is responsible for the shipping cost of consigned wines to BWE. BWE will provide shipping labels at the discounted rates provided by Fedex. These costs will be withheld from consigned sales. Consignor is responsible for insuring the lot during shipment. This is typically 0.7% of the shipments value, and does not cover damage due to heat or leakage.
Mutual Price Setting - The Consignor will work with BWE to accurately assess all wines, relying on BWE's years of experience to help establish market bearing prices. BWE will notify the Consignor of any offer below list price which, in its opinion, is made in good faith.
Promotion - BWE will photograph and provide suitable ratings and descriptions (if available) of consigned wines. All wines will be promoted on BWE's website, wine list, and promotional e-mails.
Quick Payment - Consignment checks are sent out on the first day of each month for all consignments sold the previous month. Included with this mailing is a current inventory status report.
Insurance - BWE is fully insured for all wine stored at its facility. A copy of insurance summary is available upon request.
Storage - BWE keeps all wine in a climate controlled storage room, alarmed, and secured with cameras. Consigned wines are required to be held on site at BWE. BWE shall provide a signed receipt for all wines received.
Consignment Precedence - In the case of identical wine and pricing from other Consignors, earlier consigned wines are offered for sale first. In the case of identical wine, but different pricing, the lower price consigned or BWE wine is listed first.
Consignor Options - At any time, Consignor has the option of...
a) selling directly to BWE
b) changing the list price of Consignor's wine
c) having any consigned wines returned, without any administrative fees
(Consigner pays for return shipping costs)

Can you ship to [my country]?
We do ship internationally. However, it is best to contact us directly for confirmation. In addition, we expect the purchaser to be familiar with the rules and regulations regarding shipments into his/her country and to secure, if necessary, the services of an import broker.Can you ship to my state?
We ship to most states. Some states prohibit shipments of Alcohol. For further information, please contact us.How much does it cost to ship my order?
Shipping costs can depend on a number of factors. For shipments outside the United States we generally ship using FedEX International Priority. Favorable rates are available for orders in excess of 10 lbs. For large orders, we seek the best rates from other common carriers. There are no charges for handling or material. We do charge 0.7% of the value of the wine to insure against loss or breakage. Please contact us directly for a quote. For domestic shipments, shipping cost is automatically calculated for on-line purchases. Shipping cost includes insurance against loss or breakage.How is it shipped?
All wine is packaged directly from our wine storage facility into Styrofoam shippers. There is no charge for handling or materials.Who pays for tariffs and custom duties?
For international shipments, the recipient is responsible for all customs and duties. There is no California sales tax for shipments outside of California.Can I ship at a later date?
Many of our customers have us hold their wine for cooler weather. There is no storage fee for purchased wine.What shipping options are available?
For domestic shipments we can ship Ground, Home Delivery, 3-day, 2-day, Standare Overnight and Priority Overnight. Evening delivery, after 5:00 pm, is available for Home Delivery. Express (3-day, 2-day and overnight) shipments can be left at a local FedEx/Kinko’s for pickup. Saturday deliveries are available for Home Delivery and Priority Overnight.Can I pick up my purchase at your office?
Orders can be picked up locally. Please contact us prior to pick-up. Local pick-up is subject to local sales tax. Shipments by common carrier are not subject to local sales tax.Can my purchase be left at my door?
All shipments of wine require an adult signature. If you are not available for receipt, we recommend having the wine left at a nearby FedEx/Kinko’s for pickup (Express only). Or we can ship to your office or place of work.How will I know when my wine has been shipped?

Orders are typically shipped the same day if received by 2:00 pm. However, we may delay orders received late in the week until Monday to make sure that the wine does not remain warehoused over the weekend by the shipper. International shipments generally scheduled for optimum rates. During warm or cold weather we may contact you are recommend postponing shipment to avoid possible spoilage of the wine or upgrading your shipping method.Can it be too cold or hot to ship wine?
We do not recommend shipping wine when temperatures are below 32F or above 80F. The Styrofoam wine shippers will provide some hours of protection.FAQ – PURCHASES
If I purchase from your website, will you have the wine in stock?
All wine listed on our website is in stock and kept up to date. On rare occasions, an order may be placed on-line just after we received a phone order for the same item. Under this circumstance, we will contact you before completing the transaction.
Can I include a gift card or message with my shipment.
We will include a small gift card upon request.
Can I get a discount for a large order?
We are primarily a wine wholesaler. Our policy is to sell wine at very competitive prices and thus our margins are very slim. Occasionally, price reductions can be made for specific items.
How do I pay?
International shipments require a wire transfer. Instructions will be provided. Once the payment is received, we can ship immediately. For domestic shipments we accept AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, or PayPal.

Wine Searcher updates their information twice a week so there is a possibility that the wine may no longer be available on our website while still listed on Wine Searcher’s site.
