The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale has a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose; it is missing a little delineation although there is good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied and rather funky. Fleshy red fruit here, moderate acidity and initially straight-laced, but what do you know? Returning after an hour, the wine certainly perks up and delivers the freshness it was initially missing. Don't be afraid to decant.
